Connectivity Infrastructure

Infrastructure is an enabler of economic activity, especially, connecting the growth centres with the hinterland. Bharat has given an aggressive push towards building infrastructure connectivity through various initiatives. PM GatiShakti - National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity is an ambitious initiative for building informative in different regions for holistic socio-economic development.
Bharat has been partnering with its immediate neighbours for ramping up critical infrastructure to enhance connectivity. Exemplary initiatives include Railway links to Nepal and Bangladesh; The Mahakali motorable bridge and the Maitri Setu between Tripura and Bangladesh; Trilateral Highway between Bharat’s Moreh in the northeast of the country to Mae Sot in Thailand, via Myanmar; Kaladan multi-modal transport project in Myanmar, which connects Bharat’s Mizoram state in the northeast to the Sittwe port in Myanmar (the port is operational since 2021); South Asia’s first cross-border petroleum products pipeline - between Motihari in Bharat and Amlekhgunj in Nepal; another high-speed diesel pipeline with Bangladesh; and a Bhutanese dry port in Pasakha bordering West Bengal.
Robust physical connectivity network along with maritime connectivity linkages could help Bharat and other countries to diversify global supply chains.
